I purchased these boots in April of 2025. They weren't in stock in their store in Maine, but the person at the store was very helpful and ordered them for me and had them sent to my house. Within 2 months of owning them the thin counter (leather on heel) and liner (seam up the back of the boot) was worn through. I typically don't buy boots with a liner in them because they always wear out like these boots. It is now February of 2026 and I am very happy with the leather upper and sole of the boots they are still in great shape (thank you obenaufs heavy duty LP). The laces are still original, these things wear like iron. But if you are going to make a work boot, the liner really isn't necessary unless you can make one that holds up. I would recommend Origin boots because l appreciate what they are doing making goods in America and supporting hard working Americans. I think these boots could use an upgrade with no liner and a more durable counter and they would be just about perfect. Side note, l am a mechanic and l have worn these boots 5 days a week at a minimum.

So far mostly good. I like the feel of them, however I bought them in December (now February)and a thin part of the foot pad in the boot is peeling back on both boots and makes it a hassle to flatten it and put it back to put on the boot. Now a stitch is fluffed up so I'll see how that goes but otherwise been in snow and rain as a truckdriver and held up well to the elements. Even with the 0 degree days not too cold at all but that might also be my physiology. My size here matches timberland pros. Roomy toe room compared to timberlands.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about THE WILTON 8" STEEL TOE WORK BOOT - BIG LUG, and we sincerely apologize that the lined construction has fallen short of your preferences and durability expectations.

Your feedback helps us identify where our current construction approach hasn't met the design preferences that hardworking customers like yourself need from Origin.

Long review warning
Bought my 1st pair of origins about 2 years ago when i couldn't get another pair of thorogood emperor toe boots. The origins were unlined just like the thorogoods, but were thicker leather and had more layers along the lacing eyelets. Only possible complaints were the tongue was a little short (barely cleared the top of the laces) & the toe was a bit snug. I mink oil my boots regularly, so stiffness and break-in were fine (have to oil them though.) They had a little reinforcement on the side at the arch too, which was great when working in brush & uneven ground. Still very good boots but I wanted a pair roomy enough for 2 pair of socks in the winter, so ordered a pair 1/2 size bigger this winter.
They're called the wilton now, but looks like the same boot. Not quite. Tongue is longer, check. Toe box is roomier, check (whether it's really different or just 11.5 vs 11.. dont know & doesn't really matter.) Side armor at the arch, gone. Extra layer of leather along the eyelets, gone. Can't quite tell if the upper leather is the same thickness or not because the wilton only comes with a foam liner. Can't get it unlined. Can't oil the leather from the inside when you can't access it. Haven't got the wiltons broke in yet, so can't speak to that, but the 8" big lug originals from 2 years ago are still going strong.
Their customer service dept seems to be entirely ai, too. Nearly useless.

Thanks for the detailed feedback about both THE WILTON 8" STEEL TOE WORK BOOT - BIG LUG and your original Origin work boots, and for sharing your long-term experience with the construction and performance! We're glad to hear that your 8" big lug Originals from 2 years ago are still going strong and that you appreciated the thicker leather, extra reinforcement layers, and side armor at the arch for working in brush and uneven ground.
We sincerely appreciate you bringing up the construction differences you've noticed between your original pair and the Wilton, particularly the removal of the side arch reinforcement and the extra leather layers along the eyelets. Your feedback about the foam liner preventing access for interior oiling and the changes to the reinforcement features gives us valuable insight into how our design evolution is affecting the functionality that made your first pair so reliable.
Thank you for your valuable input about the construction changes, liner accessibility, and durability comparison, alongside your positive feedback about the improved tongue length, roomier toe box, and the lasting performance of your original pair. This helps us focus on evaluating how our design updates are impacting the reinforcement features and maintenance accessibility that contributed to the exceptional longevity you experienced with your first pair!
