THE LEGEND OF THE LOOM
It started with an abandoned loom. Left forgotten in a mill that had been shuttered after 150
years of operation. And there it sat. Covered in grease and dust. A 9,000 pound behemoth from
a time when American fabric production thrived. We called it The Dragon, and we rescued it
from oblivion - life as a forgotten museum piece.
It took nine men over eight hours to move the mass of iron and steel only a few hundred yards
to the edge of the Bates Mill’s production floor. And that was only the start of its journey from
relic to resurrection as we renewed its noble purpose - to weave fabrics that would usher in the
resurgence of American apparel manufacturing.
