I was torn between the these or the Nyloc shorts that were the same price. I'm happy I went with these, but I'm curious about the others.

The material is thicker than I was expecting, but I actually really like that . I have stretchy shorts from other brands that feel like tissue paper. Those are all well and good, but these feel like they'll last for years, they hold their shape, and I'm not afraid of putting them to hard use. They're plenty stretchy, but they don't stretch out after a long day.

I picked that 7" length and they're great. I wear my shorts below the waistline, right above my butt where most folks with a belly will let them sit, and these stay put without a belt. My other, generic, hot weather shorts will stretch out and droop down my butt without a belt.

The front pockets are easy access with a stretch insert at the lower edge of the opening, probably to accommodate more gear or make it easier to stuff your hand in. I was worried this might interfere with being able to clip and unclip my pocket knife, but no issues so far.

My one issue is that there's only a single rear pocket. I usually carry my wallet in my left rear pocket so only having a right rear feels weird when I wear these. I understand keeping things lighter weight and low drag, but I'd take the extra material and any price difference for a symmetrical pocket setup.
