Wore these recently to submit Vesper Peak here in Washington. Great pants. Held up great to the abuse of snow, ice and rocks. The one thing I kept wishing for though were some side zips to dump heat. I had the pants rolled up for the heavy inclines which caused a sunburn on my lower legs (lol). Not blaming origin at all for that. Sunscreen should have been worn. Side zips would have been magical though. Knee to hip with a mesh expansion to keep stuff out would be perfect. Attached are some photos of the pants in action!

I was really excited to try these out, and there are definitely things to like. The quality feels solid, and the material is soft and comfortable. I’m 5'7", 205 lbs, and the 36x32 fit me perfectly. They move well and feel they would be great for hiking or pairing with a flannel in the fall.
But for $170, I expected more—especially in the functionality department.
The biggest letdown is the rear pockets. While they’re a bit deeper than average, they have no zippers or closure system and are so loose that they’re virtually useless for securing anything. Wallet? Phone? Forget it—those have to go in the front pockets or awkwardly in the front thigh pockets, which is not ideal while hiking.
Speaking of front pockets, they’re also on the lighter, looser side and don’t offer much security or structure. There’s no reinforced material or design consideration for carrying a knife either, which seems like a miss for something branded as a "mountain" pant.
Bonus frustration: It’s also pretty frustrating that Origin releases these in such limited quantities. I wanted to grab a pair in Olive as well, but it’s been out of stock for weeks. For a premium-priced product, availability shouldn’t feel like chasing a limited drop.
Bottom line: while the fabric and fit are excellent, the lack of pocket security and functionality is a deal-breaker at this price point. These could’ve been an instant favorite with a few smart upgrades, but for now, they feel overpriced for what you don’t get.

We understand your disappointment that the rear pockets lack closures and the front pockets don't securely hold essentials like your wallet and phone. Your point about the absence of a reinforced design for carrying a knife is also well-received. These are crucial details for outdoor gear, and we agree that these pants fall short of the practical functionality you expect from a mountain pant at this price point.
While we appreciate your positive comments on the fabric quality, comfort, and fit, we know these aspects don't make up for the fundamental limitations that make the pants impractical for their intended use. The lack of secure storage in a premium-priced mountain pant is a serious concern regarding our design priorities, and we're taking it very seriously.
Your detailed feedback on the pocket issues and suggestions for improvements are invaluable and will directly guide our design efforts for future versions. We also hear your frustration about product availability; improving consistent stock levels is something we're actively working on.

These are hands down, the most comfortable pants ever. Im impressed every time I put them on. They are great for any activity. I could hike all day, run, bike, work etc. They are cool in hotter weather but allow you to move. I will be buying more and will now be picking up the travel pants as well.

I use to wear Goruck simple pants. These are more comfortable with better pockets. Plus made in the USA. Perfect.
