I really wanted to love this jacket. I own a lot of Origin gear (all my work gear till recently and personal t-shirts are Origin) and typically love the quality. The material of the jacket feels nice and the fit is great (I normally wear a large top, but sized up to layer).
That said, this jacket has mostly sat in my closet since I bought it last fall. Every time I go to wear it, I end up choosing something else that’s simply better designed. It’s missing key features for a soft shell at this price point:
- no interior pockets
- no zippers on the exterior pockets (water gets in)
- no hanging loop on the inside collar
- no cuff tabs to tighten the sleeves to keep the water out
- no cords around the bottom/waist to tighten and keep the cold air out
These omissions make it less functional in rain, snow, and everyday use.
While the fabric and fit are strong, the lack of design details combined with the high price make it hard for me to recommend.

I went with the recommended sizing and was not disappointed. Sometimes the midsection seems a tad large; however, overall fit is solid. Room to have my Kilo Lite hoodie underneath. Really appreciate the degree to which handles wind and rain while being warm; a jacket for the better part of three seasons. Two improvement suggestions: 1) Add a loop for hanging and 2) Add zippers to the pockets or slightly change the cut for the opening.
