I do heavy industrial construction, building new power plants, renewable natural gas plants, battery energy storage facilities, data centers, waste water treatment plants, green houses & other industrial facilities. These boots hold up, the leather is high quality, the are stiff at first but break in and become form fitting. I just wish they would bring back the black ones, I would buy a black pair just for recreation/going out if they still made them. I try to replace my boots every 6 months, but I still have and use the first pair I had that I’ve easily put hundreds of miles on. They are the only boots I will buy as long as they keep making them.

The recent changes to these boots have made me not want to buy another pair.
I first noticed the laces. I really appreciated the original substantial black laces — they felt quality in my hands when tying them. The new ones broke within just two months.
I also miss the added layer of leather where the laces tie. That detail gave the boots a unique, handcrafted look that set them apart from mass-produced pairs.
The final disappointment was seeing a cheap liner when I took the new boots out of the box. My absolute favorite feature of the originals was the complete lack of a liner. As someone who works outside year-round just outside of Farmington, Maine, even a thin liner makes the boots miserable in the heat of summer. An unlined boot with a good pair of socks works perfectly well in winter too.
I wore those original boots with real pride. They were made with genuine craftsmanship, right here in America, and in my own town by people I knew.
Please consider bringing back the original manufacturing style. These boots were something special, and I’d love to keep buying them.
SizingRated 0.0 on a scale of minus 2 to 2Runs Small True to Size Runs LargeWas this helpful?OUOrigin USA2 months agoHi Justin, your feedback hits hard because we can hear how much those original boots meant to you, especially as someone who knew the people making them right there in Farmington. That connection to the craftsmanship and the pride you felt wearing them, that's exactly what we're trying to preserve and build on.
Your specific points about the laces breaking after just two months, losing that extra leather detail, and especially the liner issue for your year-round outdoor work are all things we need to take seriously. An unlined boot that works in both Maine summers and winters is no small feat, and if we've moved away from what made these boots genuinely functional for the people who depend on them, that's a problem.
We're going to make sure your feedback gets directly to our product development team. Changes like these shouldn't happen without understanding how they impact the folks who've been loyal to this boot and depend on it for real work.
Thanks for taking the time to break down exactly what made those originals special and what's not working now. This kind of detailed feedback from someone who's been there from the beginning is invaluable.

I'm currently on my third pair of origin boots, and I can't speak more highly of their quality. I love these boots so much that I wear them on a daily basis.
I work in a pulp mill, and these boots regularly get hit with chemicals, drenched with water, submerged, and walked in for up to 20 miles a day.
They also survive my motorcycle which I ride often. These boots have literally been to hell and back with me, and they still hold strong 🤣
I also love the tongue on this newer boot design, they are much better at keeping water out.
I honestly can't speak more highly of these boots so far, and I love that they are made in America.
Keep doing what you're doing Origin because I'm about to order my fourth pair.

Quality materials were used to create these. The tongue stays centered going up your lower shin, even with being tied at the ankle or higher up the shin. My only complaint is that the steel toe box should be slightly wider to accommodate the EE size. My pinky toe will occasionally catch on the steel toe which causes some discomfort and may eventually lead to a damaged toenail or broken toe depending on type and intensity of work being done.

We're glad to hear you're impressed with the quality materials and that the tongue stays properly centered during wear - that's exactly what we aim for in our construction.
We really appreciate your honest feedback about the steel toe box width in the EE size. That kind of specific input about fit issues, especially from someone experiencing discomfort in the pinky toe area, is exactly what we need to hear. We'll definitely pass this along to our design team to look at the toe box dimensions for wider sizes.
Thanks for the thoughtful review and for supporting American-made boots!
