It was so light and breathable even though it was within the gsm specifications of IBJJF. It fit perfectly and did not shrink after washing and drying.

This kimono is much thinner then my other pearl weave gis. They're all 100% cotton, while the origin one is a poly blend. I wasn't sure it would be as sturdy as my others but after some hard rolls, I've had some time to kick the tires. It dries very quickly on the line, doesn't hold odor and I liked it well enough to buy another.
Note: Origin shipping is weird, the pants and kimono ship separately.

I got my first two origins early in my bjj journey and was hesitant due to the price and it being a newish hobby at the time. Also in my closet are some well known competitors, but these origins have held up the absolute best training 5-6 days a week with no shrinkage or noticeable fabric wear. I love how the material isn’t super abrasive but kind of slippery on itself and the mat, helps work in tight spaces if you catch my drift. I picked up two more over the years and am now my academy’s origin guy. Pic is when I proudly wore the DEF in Dec ‘25 and earned purple.
Wish I would have purchased that tan limited run gi, darn it…
