Look, I’m a performance clothing nerd. So much so that I work in performance apparel manufacturing, and have tested a lot of performance base layers over the years. After a full three seasons of wearing the Original Brrr, I can confirm this is the best shirt I’ve ever owned.
I judge a product on three metrics: quality, performance, who gets paid? Buying American products came at a price in quality, and performance when it came to apparel until Origin was born. With that said, other major manufacturers have had years to develop their cooling fabrics, and styles. Origin did something with Brrr that they don’t fully advertise, but I had a hunch it would perform in testing. These are my findings.
Quality: the pattern is cleanly sublimated to the base fabric, so you don’t get the white bleed through at stretching, which is the high water line for pattered garments. The stitches, and panels are clean, and do not bind. The forearm cooling material is phenomenal, and you get a great cooling effect in the slightest breeze in the heat.
Performance: it’s a heat garment, right? Nope. This thing is a thermoregulating base layer that performs identically to Fist Lite’s 37.5 mineral material. Thus, in the cold, Brrr keeps you warmer than a standard poly base layer. Combined with a Kilo hoodie, it’s a great shirt for cold, and cool active days.

My new go-to fishing hoodie. Was in the sun for 8 hours and was comfortable the whole time. Fits looser than expected for a usual 3XL wearer. Very lightweight and breathable. I now own three. Highly recommend

Love these hoodies. Wear them at the beach, training, or yard work. They keep you cool especially here in Florida in the summer. Extremely versatile.

I have not had a chance to actually wear it yet, but I am impressed with the quality. I love the fit and material and the stitching seems to be really nice compared to other brands I have bought previously.

Awesome lightweight shirt for heat. I think it’s an awesome product for what it is. 4/5 is mainly because k mistakenly assumed there would be a front pocket. I’m on the fence about whether it’d be worth it or not though. Still a great solution to the random weather in Colorado.
